A Hoosier Cathedral

Basketball has been a Hoosier tradition almost from the beginning of the sport. Old gymnasiums are revered in Indiana; although inevitable progress has witnessed many classic gyms felled by the wrecking ball. One of the oldest surviving gyms in the state is quietly tucked away on the near northside of Indianapolis. This gym, with its wonderful parquet floor, is the former First Presbyterian Church on the 1500 block of N. Delaware Street. This gym is a beautiful example of those built in Indiana during the 1910s.
